Ready for WAR…
Voracious reader, world traveler, history buff, chocolate connoisseur, mom, writer, and 2017 Pitch Wars hopeful.
After studying English at the University of Toronto, I spent a life-altering year touring and teaching in India. I returned home brimming with inspiration.
I found a home with Romance Writers of America, and my voice, in the exhilarating world of Young Adult Romantic Fiction.
Currently, I live a hectic but wonderful life in Toronto, Canada, juggling my time between the three loves of my life: My husband, my son, and my MacBook.
My debut novel, Mortal Enemies, is a young adult, contemporary, romance, with a dash of magical realism, and is complete at 67,000 words. A finalist in several RWA contests, it has excellent potential as either a stand-alone, or, perhaps, as the first volume in a trilogy.
A Faerie and a Djin. Mortal Enemies. But, when they’re forced to work together to thwart an ancient curse that could spark an apocalyptic war among Elemental forces, the quest that sweeps them half-way around the world draws them closer and closer, fueling a mutinous passion, and blurring the line between love and hate…
SHAYLEE McCAFFERY is supposed to be in Paris, having the time of her life with the crème de la crème of Rosedale High. Instead, she’s running for her life in the swarming, sweltering streets of New Delhi with AMAR KHAN—a brooding, confirmed loser she wouldn’t be caught dead associating with under normal circumstances.
But, these are far from normal circumstances…
Since stumbling across an old trunk in her attic, not only has Shaylee unearthed a shocking secret about her family heritage, she’s awoken an ancient curse that’s been dormant for over a century and a half. Now, it’s up to her to stop it, and save the world from the wrath of the Elementals—opposing spiritual entities representing the four existential elements: earth, air, wind, and fire. The trouble is, she doesn’t have a clue how…
Amar seems to be the only one who can help, but, despite Shaylee’s totally infuriating and ever intensifying attraction to him, deep down, she’s not quite sure she can trust him. But, then, does she really have a choice?
The Battle Plan:
I’m eager to work with a mentor to polish my manuscript to perfection. A strong proponent of continuous learning and development, I plan to take advantage of every opportunity to hone my craft, and network with like-minded writers.
Ultimately, my goal is to prepare the strongest query possible for submission to an agent with a track record of success in representing Young Adult fiction.
